     On September 10th a very bright light in our world was violently taken from us in the person of Charlie Kirk.  I met him briefly in July of 2024 as a delegate at the National Republican Convention in Milwaukee Wisconsin.  My wife Kim and I watched his memorial service last Sunday where his courageous and beautiful wife offered these words:“My husband, Charlie, he wanted to save young men just like the one who took his life,” she said. “That young man, I forgive him,” she said as tears rolled down her face.“Charlie passionately wanted to reach and save the lost boys of the West”“Charlie perfectly understood God’s role for a Christian husband: A man who leads so that they can serve,” she said. “To all the men watching around the world, accept Charlie’s challenge and embrace true manhood.      Sadly, we have ended the month of August with, yet another, active shooter situation in Minneapolis MN.  These horrific incidents make all of question how a person could randomly take the lives of innocent children and adults they don’t even know.Wrestling with lethal force is something that most of us never have to think about hopefully, but we should pause to appreciate and consider what it might be like for the people who put their lives on the line every day as uniformed officers sworn to serve and protect, even to the point of lethal force.We see more and more film clips on the news of people attacking and ambushing uniformed officers.      July is the month we all celebrate Independence Day, our 249th this year. June is typically a month of “going forth.” School is out, we pack up the kids and take off for summer vacations. Many of us attend weddings. And of course there are always summer camps, mission trips, and vacation bible school. Jesus’ final command to his disciples comes in Matthew 28:19: Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the. Holy Spirit. Every May brings three big events: Mother’s Day, Graduations, and Memorial Day. All three make us reflect more deeply on the loved ones in our lives as well as marking the change in seasons from Spring toward summer. This May we also welcomed the first American born Pope, Leo, after Francis passed away on April 21st ending his twelve year period as pontiff. We also had five Fridays so we had three episodes this month with our every other Friday posting schedule. Friends, March is a month known across the country for two school related events: Spring Break Vacations The NCAA Basketball Tournament know as March Madness This year, in Texas, it is also a very important month for our legislature as “School Choice” has become a major priority for both parents and our Governor.  Both the House and the Senate have passed bills in each respective chamber and will now go to a conference committee to hash out the differences in the final bill sent to the Governor to sign into law. Friends, 2025 has begun with a breathtaking pace in a new presidential administration and a significant achievement for the podcast with our 100th episode! We have completed the four part series with pastor and author Dwight Edwards covering the four spiritual provisions discussed in his book Revolution Within. With new purity, a new identity in Christ, a new disposition to desire to do God’s will, and the new supernatural power provided by the Holy Spirit we have been provided the resources up front to wrestle with our inner man and claim victory over our sinful nature in the flesh.
