News David Savage November 1, 2025
Podcast experts say the top three show building best practices are consistency in posting, improved show quality, and guest selection. We have worked very hard in all three areas for over a year now operating as a nonprofit enterprise and are hopeful that you, our audience, have noticed and are supportive of growing our show’s reach to help train up a generation of better men.

We are extremely pleased to bring three stunning storytellers this month who are discussing some of the most significant wrestling matches most of us will face. Wrestling with isolation, lack of belief, and the polarizing politics of our time.
Do you really know what past experiences and realities make you the person you are today? Do you know what drives you? What shapes your image of manhood and self? Until a man unpacks his past and deals with the themes and pain that reside there, he can never be an authentic man. As the saying goes, the unexamined life is not worth living.
Well, there is nothing like 83 days ALONE in the frigid, predator-filled environment of the Mackenzie River Delta near Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada, north of the Arctic Circle to do a little self-examination. And that is exactly what Timber Cleghorn did as the runner up to the winner on season 11 of the ALONE show on the History Channel.
Some folks stand at the threshold of belief like at a doorway to freedom. It’s wide open and they only have to walk through it but something stops them…. doubt and whispering suggestions. I have been there myself. It’s called a stumbling block, placed precisely there by an adversary that does not want you to go in and exactly where my second guest Doug Sharp stood.
Doug’s stumbling block was the big “why” question.
“If there is a God and He is good, why does He allow so much suffering in this world?”
Doug shares one of the most amazing stories of personal transformation I have ever heard, truly a Saul to Paul conversion! In this world of so much uncertainty with deep fakes and AI making us more suspicious of everything, don’t our souls starve for a moment like Doug had where he was provided CERTAIN knowledge directly from our Lord?
My final guest this month is the new Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System Glenn Hegar, overseeing twelve universities and eight state agencies! He has spent his career in service to the people of Texas beginning in the Texas Legislature as a state representative from 2003-2007 and a state senator from 2007-2015. Since 2015 he has served as the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, where he developed a reputation for delivering results, prudently managing billions in taxpayer funds and leading with principle. Throughout all of these roles he wrestled daily in the political arena of elective office.
Known for his hands-on leadership and deep commitment to public service, he is now focused on one primary mission: unlocking the full potential of the A&M System to build the next generation of Texas leaders.
Please consider making a donation by hitting the link below so that we can reach more of the lost, the least, and the last and continue to offer excellent content to encourage and coach up young men. Any amount is greatly appreciated as having others believe in this ministry is vital to our mission and motivation.
In Christ,
David L Savage
Are you the kind of guy who retreats to the cave of isolation like a bear when you get wounded?
Many of the most intellectually gifted people in this world struggle with true belief in something as simple as genuine faith.
Glenn Hegar is now focused on one primary mission: unlocking the full potential of the A&M System to build the next generation of Texas leaders.
